Maverick Studio hosts another:
Garage Band Karaoke Session Party
Come Eat – Drink – Dance and be Merry
These type-of-sessions are for inviting friends to watch you, in a concert band rehearsal session where music/song charts are provided in binders designated for C / Bb / Eb / Bass instruments and Lyrics.
This is a great format and opportunity for musicians to share their interest in music, and vocalists to workout songs taken from and listed on this web site.
Songs are “worked on” means: 1)played completely through, once at a reduced speed to get acquainted; 2)repeat sections that were “rough spots” to “work out” the kinks; 3)play the entire song again, and now a bit more up tempo; and 4)if you liked the outcome and feel good about, play it again at full tempo, with artistic reckless abandonment and thoroughly enjoy the performance !
And for additional joy, participate in the Pot-Luck food provided by the Guests
Available, too, is a kitchen with stove oven as well as outdoor Gas-B-B-Q
Come sing your best song, KARAOKE style with a band of musician friends. Everyone wants to sing with the concert band. It’s a Karaoke sing-along-party on live band steroids!

Recommended If You Like (RIYL: the term used primarily by independent music promoters to garner interest in listening to their music, by providing the name of one or more familiar artists who sound similar to the promoter’s music.)
MAVERICK sounds like: Mike Bloomfield, Larry Carlton, Blues Brothers, Tower of Power, Cold Blood, All Blues, played Jazz/Rock style.
With KARAOKE, always listen, and follow the rhythm section (drums and bass), cause this is what Maverick is playing to.

Are you seeking fun performing with other musicians? Then contact MAVERICK by call or text at: (858) 576 – 8363 MAVERICK is a roaming free-spirited person. His ingenuous qualities include being independent-minded, unorthodox, free, noble, honest, and open while a bit feral, wild, dangerous, and unfettered by cultural norms. Maverick is authentic masculinity! What is Authentic Masculinity?
Authentic Masculinity is virtuous masculinity. Virtuous masculinity is strong and leads to success in all areas of life because it requires self-mastery: the daily practice of self-government, self-discipline, and self-restraint. THOUGHT:Hmmm.. so, by social norms, Jesus of Nazareth was a bit of a MAVERICK in his time?
Maverick Roams: Music Performance History
2018 January: OPEN-MIC session Maverick performed at Fast Times, a neighborhood restaurant and bar conveniently located on the border of Bay Park and Clairemont, just one mile east of Mission Bay. Fast Times is a place where everyone (especially musicians) can have fun. Fast Times offers: 12 local craft beers on draft and a full bar, a menu that blends SoCal favorites with pub-style classics, kids menus and a dog friendly patio, And it is here at Fast Times, you will find Maverick stirring up the sound with his unique fusion of Chicago style jazzy-rock-blues dance music. This evening, Maverick was introduced to a good harmonica player visiting from Hawaii, and together they got the house band taking solos to the song: “Get Out Of My Life, Woman” by Lee Dorsey (New Orleans Soul); mixed with the sound of Maverick’s Jazz-Rock-Blues guitar, played with a strong rhythm vibe (perfect for intense, regularly, repeated patterns of movement, i.e. dancing). Get out my life, woman; you don’t love me no more Get out my life, woman; you don’t love me no more Get out my life, woman; you don’t love me no more Get out my eyes, teardrops; I gotta see my way around Get out my eyes, teardrops; I gotta see my way around Get out my life, heartache; nothin’ but heartache by the pound Get off the ladder, woman; I’ve got to climb up to the top Get off the ladder, woman; I’ve got to climb up to the top Get off the ladder, woman; there is nothin’ gonna make me stop Get out my way, woman; I gotta be movin’ on Get out the way, woman; I gotta be movin’ on Get out the way, woman; I gotta be movin’ on Get out my life, woman; you don’t love me no more Get out my life, woman; you don’t love me no more Get out my life, woman; you don’t love me no more2018 February: OPEN-MIC session Maverick shows up, again, on Tuesday night to perform and jam with other guest musicians at Fast Times; this time because he has learned that his musician friend from 2006, pianist Craig Horner, is playing keys in the house band. Maverick invited guest tenor saxophone player, Kevin DelMastro, to solo on “Comin Home, Baby”.

Passing Musical Memories
(San Diego: Friday, February 10, 2017)
Just now, I’m listening to these songs, considering each word in each song as I hear a message from Joni. With sixty-five years under my belt, I can easily imagine by recall the very scenes that Joni describes by these songs; only I experience the thoughts in the context of a man toward a woman. Dedicated to my loving memory (1973-74) of Robin Baxter.. she taught me in a fun way that hurt in the end. So much to remember, I need to write an auto-biography…Joni Mitchell: Court And Spark Album

Song 01: Court and Spark
Love came to my door With a sleeping roll And a madman’s soul He thought for sure I’d seen him Dancing up a river in the dark Looking for a woman To court and spark He was playing on the sidewalk For passing change When something strange happened Glory train passed through him So he buried the coins he made In People’s Park And went looking for a woman To court and spark It seemed like he read my mind He saw me mistrusting him And still acting kind He saw how I worried, sometimes I worry sometimes “All the guilty people, ” he said They’ve all seen the stain On their daily bread On their christian names I cleared myself I sacrificed my blues And you could complete me I’d complete you His eyes were the color of the sand And the sea And the more he talked to me, you know The more he reached me But I couldn’t let go of L.A. City of the fallen angelsSong 02: Help Me
Help me I think I’m falling In love again When I get that crazy feeling, I know I’m in trouble again I’m in trouble ‘Cause you’re a rambler and a gambler And a sweet-taIking-ladies man And you love your lovin’ But not like you love your freedom Help me I think I’m falling In love too fast It’s got me hoping for the future And worrying about the past ‘Cause I’ve seen some hot hot blazes Come down to smoke and ash We love our lovin’ But not like we love our freedom Didn’t it feel good We were sitting there talking Or lying there not talking Didn’t it feel good You dance with the lady With the hole in her stocking Didn’t it feel good Didn’t it feel good Help me I think I’m falling In love with you Are you going to let me go there by myself That’s such a lonely thing to do Both of us flirting around Flirting and flirting Hurting too We love our lovin’ But not like we love our freedomSong 03: Free Man in Paris
The way I see it, he said You just can’t win it Everybody’s in it for their own gain You can’t please ’em all There’s always somebody calling you down I do my best And I do good business There’s a lot of people asking for my time They’re trying to get ahead They’re trying to be a good friend of mine I was a free man in Paris I felt unfettered and alive There was nobody calling me up for favors And no one’s future to decide You know I’d go back there tomorrow But for the work I’ve taken on Stoking the star-maker machinery Behind the popular song I deal in dreamers And telephone screamers Lately I wonder what I do it for If l had my way I’d just walk out those doors And wander Down the Champs Elysees Going cafe to cabaret Thinking how I’ll feel when I find That very good friend of mine I was a free man in Paris I felt unfettered and alive Nobody was calling me up for favors No one’s future to decide You know I’d go back there tomorrow But for the work I’ve taken on Stoking the star maker machinery Behind the popular songSong 04: People’s Parties
All the people at this party They’ve got a lot of style They’ve got stamps of many countries They’ve got passport smiles Some are friendly Some are cutting Some are watching it from the wings Some are standing in the centre Giving to get something Photo Beauty gets attention Then her eye paint’s running down She’s got a rose in her teeth And a lampshade crown One minute she’s so happy Then she’s crying on someone’s knee Saying, laughing and crying You know it’s the same release I told you when I met you I was crazy Cry for us all, Beauty Cry for Eddie in the corner Thinking he’s nobody And Jack behind his joker And stone-cold Grace behind her fan And me in my frightened silence Thinking I don’t understand I feel like I’m sleeping Can you wake me? You seem to have a broader sensibility I’m just living on nerves and feelings With a weak and a lazy mind And coming to people’s parties Fumbling deaf dumb and blind I wish I had more sense of humor Keeping the sadness at bay Throwing the lightness on these things Laughing it all away Laughing it all away Laughing it all awayFor the men, and their family, who sit with me at my fire:
